Few would deny that vision is a critical aspect of many jobs, whether this involves driving, quality inspections, or sorting, to name just a few tasks dependent on having good vision.
Medica Consulting offers a vision screening program for your employees. We screen for long and short sightedness, and in addition, check peripheral vision and for the degree of colour blindness.
Why are vision screenings important?
Half of all blindness can be prevented. A vision screening does not replace an optometrist's exam, but it can help identify people who are at risk for eye disease. Vision screening should be performed annually.
What happens during a vision screening?
1. The screener will ask you questions about your medical history, age, and when you last saw your optometrist. These and other questions help assess your risk for several eye problems.
The screener will check your vision for:
Screening checks for problems seeing things far away (nearsightedness), problems seeing things close up (farsightedness), and for "aging eye" or a decrease in the ability to focus on things close up. The screener will also check your vision for colour deficiency and signs of eye strain.
During the exit interview, we will discuss your test results with you and make a recommendation about your need to see an optometrist for a full eye exam. we can also answer other questions or refer you to sources that can help.
How long does the screening take?
A screening usually takes about 15 minutes.
What if the screener finds a vision problem?
If a possible problem is detected, we will advise you to make an appointment with an optometrist for a full eye exam. Only your optometrist can diagnose and treat eye diseases and vision problems.
